1. Your intensity is not high enough

One of the reasons why your workout is not working is probably because you’re not putting enough effort into it. If you’re not breaking the sweat this means that your body is not working hard as it should.

Sweat means that your body is overheating, and that means that it is working. More sweat means more results. However, we all sweat differently, some more, some less, but the key is to give it your maximum according to your abilities. So if you are chatting your way through the workout, taking big rests and you’re generally not really “in the zone”, there’s no wonder why you’re not seeing results.

The key to start seeing your workout results is to crack up the intensity and to vary it throughout your workout. You can achieve that by working out in intervals of both high and low intensity, doing more reps, doing the reps faster and reducing the rest periods. The main idea is to keep pushing yourself to the next level.

2. You’re not eating properly

The first thing that you need to understand is that it’s not the fat intake that’s the problem, it’s the carb intake. If you want a more toned, fit, defined look you will have to eat fewer carbs, eat more protein and eat more clean in general. This means that you should avoid processed foods and drinks because you’ll only take in excess calories and not enough nutrients. The key is to eat as much fresh, nutrient dense, home-made food as possible.

Another thing that is very important is to eat after your workout. Your muscles that have just worked out hard need the fuel to grow. Eat your proteins after hard workouts because they are what you muscles need the most.

3. You're working out too hard

Really? Is there really such a thing as working out to hard?

Actually, yes. You can work out too hard and too much. If you push your body to much and you’re not resting it afterwards you will actually be braking your muscles down instead of building them. We’ve mentioned earlier that it is important to push yourself, but it is equally important to let your body recover to regain its strength.

So how do you know if you’ve been working out too much? If you are always tired, you don’t have enough energy – basically you just feel drained, you have headaches, you’re in a bad mood, you’re not motivated enough to complete you workouts you may be working out too hard.

So if you want that toned and muscular look you must give your body the much needed rest. If you don’t do this, you will actually burn of the muscle you have, you will be exhausted and prone to more injuries.

So how do I get the best out of my workout?

To get most out of your workouts give it your best while training but remember to eat well, rest enough and stay hydrated (avoid drinks full of sugar, water is best).

Achieving good workout results requires a good state of mind. If you are not in a good mental state your productivity won’t be as good and therefore you will not achieve the results you worked so hard for.
